Decoupled Control of Asymmetrical Multilevel VSI for Standalone PV Application

This study represents the control of a stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) system. It mainly focuses on PV based single-phase asymmetrical multi-level converter (AMLC) for standalone applications with less semiconductor switches. A popular maximum power point (MPPT) algorithm i.e incremental conductance is used to track maximum power from the PV panel. Synchronized bidirectional buck-boost dc-dc converter (BDC) is used for power management between the battery and the load. BDC parameters are designed based on continuous conduction mode (CCM) of operation. Three individual PV sources with MPPT and BDC are connected to single-phase AMLC. The individual dc-link voltage of AMLC is controlled by BDC controller. The complete system presented here is developed in MATLAB Simulink platform. Validation of the results has been tested by OPAL- real-time results.
