The Effect of a Change in Maintenance on Reducing the Susceptibility to Failures of the Landing Gear Joint of Mi-171Sh Helicopters

The article deals with the relationship between aircraft failure and its impact on the change of maintenance in real operation. It analyzes possible solutions to the fault, quantifies the economic costs of their activation and describes in more detail the actually implemented supplementation to the maintenance manual. In the paper a specific defect on the landing gear of a military transport helicopter Mi-171 Sh, which resulted in the suspension of operations of all helicopters of the type, will be described.
