Self-Interference Cancellation in SISO Full-Duplex System

In this paper, we propose a single-input single-output (SISO) full-duplex system model to remove self-interference from the received signal. A pilot symbol-based technique is used for channel estimation. The self-interference signal in the implemented transceiver system interferes with an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) modulated transmitted signal, which is then cancelled using the discussed active cancellation technique. A thorough analysis of self-interference cancellation by placing the interference signal generating transmitter at different positions with respect to the receiver is presented. The technique is shown to decrease the error-vector magnitude significantly and achieve a lower bit-error-rate. Numerical evaluation of the technique shows that the error vector magnitude was reduced from 1 dB to a value of -20 dB resulting in the bit-error-rate to reduce from an order of 10^-1 to 10^-4.
