Triple-band Metamaterial Polarization Converter Based on Substrate Integrated Waveguide Technology

In this paper, we present the design of a triple-band metamaterial polarization converter based on substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology. The converter consists of periodic U-shaped slot elements etched on copper-clad plates which are surrounded by SIW cavities. The proposed converter combines the traditional transmission-type polarization converter with SIW to achieve 90° rotation from y polarized wave to x polarized wave. The simulation results show that the polarization conversion efficiency is very high at the operating frequencies of 6.82GHz, 9.4GHz and 12.04GHz, close to 100%. The polarization converter has the advantages of multi-frequency., high efficiency and easy manufacture, and has great application value.
