Implementation of Project-Based Learning in Teaching an Antenna and Wave Propagation Course

Antenna and Wave Propagation course is regarded as an important course for senior undergraduates or postgraduates majoring in electrical engineering, especially communication engineering. This article presents an implementation of project-based learning in antenna and wave propagation course. A project-based learning component is developed to supplement traditional classroom learning. It motivates the students to apply the textbook theory to real-world engineering problems, allows meaningful collaborations between the students, and boosts students' self-learning capability. Demonstrated by project results and student feedbacks, incorporating project-based learning into traditional classroom learning benefits both student learning outcomes and student personal development.
