Reliability Estimation Using Mission Profile of High Frequency Power Supply for Soldering Carbide Tips

The paper considers the reliability of HF power supply used for induction heating of steel pieces in the manufacturing of carbide tips. The reliability estimation of these types of power convertors is a complex task. The power supply operates with different: types of inductors, production schedules, environmental conditions and temperatures of the water cooling system. To estimate the reliability, it is necessary to define the so-called “mission profile” of the power supply according to the currently defined operating conditions. In this case the reliability for this type of application of the power supply can be estimated accurately with operational reliability. It is necessary to consider methods and methodologies that provide models for mission profile reliability estimation.
