Research on the Fabric-Wearable RFID Based on Inkjet Printing Technology

Compared with traditional radio frequency identification (RFID) fabrication substrates, fabrics are more suitable for wearable electronic substrates because of their flexibility, air permeability, flexibility and skin friendliness. The UHF RFID tag antenna realized by electronic textiles is a promising exploration. This paper first studied the manufacturing method of conductive circuit based on inkjet printing and electrochemical deposition technology, and obtained good conductivity and high precision circuit on fabric substrate. On cotton fabrics, the synergism of SU-8 and P4VP (poly4-vinylpyridine) ensures that the pattern retains its original size almost rather than diffusing. After 2 hours of copper deposition, the resistance of thin plate reached 0.01 $\Omega$ sq-1, and it was verified by experiments that the fabric substrate guaranteed the conductivity, stability, reliability and mechanical flexibility of the copper coating circuit. When the radio frequency was 920.125 MHz, the maximum distance for reading RFID information was 30 cm. It indicatess that this technology has great promotion and development potential in the future application of intelligent textiles.
