An Onboard Bidirectional Charger for Light Electric Vehicles Using Interleaved ZETA Converter

The bidirectional power flow operation of an onboard charger (OBC) assists the utilities. It increases the usability of the electric vehicle. In this work, a bidirectional onboard charger is designed and modelled. The design of an onboard charger consists of a voltage source converter and a bidirectional isolated ZETA (BI-ZETA) converter. The VSC limits the THD within the IEC standard 61000-3-2. The BI-ZETA converter controls the charging/discharging operation. The interleaved design of BI-ZETA is achieved to minimize the ripples from the charging/discharging current. The design of controller is such that it controls the transient behaviour of the OBC.
