Photovoltaic Hosting Capacity Increment in an Unbalanced Active Distribution Network

The successive compounding in energy demand necessitates the integration of the distributed energy resources at the distribution network. Unlike the traditional distribution network, the current distribution network is bidirectional. For a distributed resource connected at the distribution side network parameters needs to be pre-calculated keeping a safe margin with respect to the local utility standards. Due to the fact that the distribution network is unbalanced most of the time, this integration of the local power sources is more challenging. In this paper, the authors have implemented a new strategy for increasing local photovoltaic injection for an unbalanced active distribution system. The analysis is done in MATLAB and the result is validated using Typhoon HIL realtime simulator.
