LED/DFSM fiber systems for maximum transmission capacity

The feasibility of the dispersion flattened single-mode fiber (DFSM)/LED combination is demonstrated by means of bit-error rate (BER) measurements at 1300 and 1550 nm. A reach of 18.1 km was established at both wavelengths for 168 Mb/s.<
