Diagnosis of the main issues of extra-hospital medical patient transportation: Case of Morocco

The purpose of this paper is to identify and categorize the main issues of extra-hospital medical patient transportation. These issues were identified at the international level before focusing on the case of Morocco. The methodology is organized on three levels-first, the transportation issues were identified from existing publications. Then, based on the Ishikawa diagram, these issues were grouped into families. Finally, a cause tree diagram was used to map the extra-hospital transportation issues in Morocco. Results showed that extra-hospital medical transportation suffers from a multitude of organizational and technical problems. In particular, in Morocco, these difficulties are related to the lack of coordination between the actors, the lack of human and material resources, the inappropriate use of ambulances, and financial barriers.
