Comparison of Harmonic Models of Nonlinear Home Appliances Based on Measured Data

As a large number of nonlinear home appliances are widely distributed in the residential low voltage (RLV) distribution system, which makes the harmonic content in the RLV distribution network higher than ever before. Therefore, it is urgent to study the harmonic characteristics of these nonlinear home appliances. Firstly, three traditional harmonic models (i.e. constant current source model, harmonic coupled admittance matrix (HCAM) model, and harmonic Norton model) and the dominant HCAM based on measured data are compared in this paper. Then a small experimental platform is established to measure the voltage and current data of nonlinear home appliances. Furthermore, four various harmonic models are verified by experimental data. Finally, combined the modeling accuracy and model complexity, an appropriate harmonic model is selected for harmonic modeling.
