The Internet of Things (IoT) Design for Cardiac Remote Patient Monitoring using Business Process Re-Engineering

The hospital's inability to serve the patients directly is a challenge for hospitals to provide adequate, responsive, and remote health services. This study aimed to design the cardiac remote patient monitoring (RPM) process to reduce the emergency response time and reduce the outpatient process time using the Internet of Things (IoT) through Business Process Reengineering (BPR) and Management Information Systems (MIS). The BPR was used to redesign the hospital's cardiac service with the RPM through modeling and simulation. Simulation results showed that the RPM could increase 52.94% outpatient capacity, reduce 21.70% outpatient process time, and reduce 19.12% emergency response time. The MIS was used to design the information flow from the RPM implementation.
