Design and Performance Test of Power Compensated Energy Storage Flywheel on Drilling Platform

Based on the single 250kW-3kWh power-compensated energy storage flywheel which applied to the drilling platform, this paper uses finite element simulation software to perform static and dynamic analysis on the energy storage flywheel. The simulation results show that all indicators meet the design requirements. According to the actual working conditions of the drilling platform, the performance indicators required for the energy storage flywheel are listed. The actual test has passed the requirements of 200 times full-power charging and discharging in 12 hours, and the temperature rise of the motor and the magnetic bearing are below the limit of 120 degree centigrade. The charging and discharging power reaches 250KW, the full power discharge time reaches 30s, and the charging and discharging switching time is within 20ms. It fully shows that the energy storage flywheel can meet the performance requirements of power compensation of the power system of the drilling platform.
