Comparative Analysis of Recent MPPT Algorithms for Thermoelectric Generator

This paper presents a comparative analysis of recent Maximum power point tracking algorithms of a thermoelectric Generator (TEG). The algorithms discussed are Linear Extrapolation based maximum power point tracking (LEMPPT), Parabolic extrapolation based maximum power point tracking (PEMPPT) and Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithms. The LEMPPT algorithm tracks MPP based Linear I-V characterstics of TEG that requires two operating points on the curve, PEMPPT uses P-I curve of TEG which is Parabolic in nature for that requires three operating points of parabolic curve and Perturb and observe is classic hill climbing technique the operating point works on perturbation based on sign of voltage and power differnces to reach MPP point. The performance of the these algorithms are evaluated with same initial operating point and sampling time and it is found to be LEMPPT track faster than rest algorithms.
