The Slip-Coach Return Potential - Smart Car Attachment Train

The technology of electric trains in the areas of energy saving, high speed, improved safety and power transfer has evolved rapidly in recent years. The electrical power sources for future trains consist of separate energy storages for auxiliary power systems. The intelligent detachable train is a new way of train coupling that makes non-stop high-speed rail possible. The challenges on implementation are discussed with recommendations on recoupling empty decoupled cars, and optimising the number of stops for detachment. The state-of-the-art smart car attachment train concept is described in this paper.
