Research on Effectiveness Evaluation Model of Intrusion Detection System based on Cost and Performance

Simulation is a common method to study intrusion detection system. A large amount of simulation results will be generated during the simulation operation. How to effectively evaluate the intrusion detection system based on the simulation results is a problem that needs to be studied. Based on the typical intrusion detection system, this paper designs the evaluation index set of the system, and gives the relationship between the evaluation index and the parameters of the typical intrusion detection system. To overcome the shortcomings of traditional ROC curve performance evaluation model, this paper improves the ROC curve performance evaluation model, and puts forward a cost and performance based ROC curve performance evaluation model, which is proved to be able to evaluate intrusion detection system more comprehensively.
