Processing Time Reduction for JPEG Compression Using Pixel Array Conversion

Across the autonomous driver-less car industry, remote vehicle control systems have received increased attention. To maintain the performance of these systems, image compression is necessary to reduce time-delay to less than 33 ms. This paper proposes a methodology for reducing the processing time of image compression by adapting the pixel array conversion algorithm. This study shows that our methodology shortens the compression process time to 28.9 ms, which meets the latency requirement of remote control systems.
