Thermal Simulation Analysis for Power Lithium-Ion Battery Module Based on Composite Phase Change Material

In order to investigate temperature field distribution for the battery module with composite phase change material (CPCM), a coupled heat model of it combining the heat generation model of single cell, heat transfer model of the CPCM and pyrolytic graphite sheets (PGS) was established, and the thermal simulation analysis of the phase change cooling process of the module under discharge condition was carried out by using the Ansys Fluent. The results indicate that at the end of discharge, the maximum temperature, the maximum temperature difference and the maximum liquid phase rate of the battery module is 45.8 °C, 4.2 °C and 0.57, respectively, so the phase change cooling system can meet the maximum temperature and temperature uniformity requirements of the battery module.
