Implementation Analysis of Available Bandwidth Estimation for Multimedia Service on VANET Network using A-STAR Routing Protocol

VANET technology enables the communication between vehicles by utilizing ad-hoc-based wireless networks. Because of the dynamic topology in VANET, routing protocols with topology-based such as A-STAR is suitable for finding the most efficient route. ABE is an important component of QoS to improve service quality at VANET. This study analyzed the effect of ABE implementation on the performance of average throughput and end-to-end delay on VANET networks for multimedia services. The simulation was done by changing the number and speed of nodes in the conditions before and after ABE was implemented. The simulation was conducted on the Padalarang toll road in Bandung, Indonesia. The results show a significant increase in the value of QoS obtained. The average delay value was reduced to four times lower than without ABE. For the average throughput, ABE implementation can provide an increase of up to 13 times than before. The simulation results also show that the addition of nodes affects the QoS value obtained. However, increasing the speed of the nodes on the VANET network does not cause a significant change in QoS value.
