Multiple Solutions for Micro-PMUs Placement in Active Distribution Networks

This paper addresses a technique of extracting numerous solutions for micro-PMUs (μPMUs) placement in the active distribution network with various topologies. For this purpose, the integer linear programming (ILP) framework is employed to identify the various optimized locations for the micro-PMUs. The modern power distribution network consists of different types of nodes, whose monitoring is imperative for coordinated operation and control. Also, the distribution networks operate in various topologies to optimize several targets. The observability measure is defined on the basis of active nodes, switch nodes, and high connectivity nodes, which help to grade and determine the best μPMU placement solution. The simulation results on the modified distribution network verify the efficacy of the proposed method for procuring a suitable μPMU placement solution.
