Abstract:
Many schools, colleges, and universities of Bangladesh provide transport facility to their stakeholders. Transport division of these schools, colleges, and universities face difficulties in some issues like optimization of the number of buses, the entrance of unauthorized person, misunderstanding among students regarding seat reservation, multiple reservations of seats by one student, and lack of a daily database for further analysis to optimize the service. To mitigate these problems, an IoT based biometric transport system is proposed in this paper. In this system, a device will be placed at the entrance of the bus. Students or other stakeholders can book an empty seat after his/her being authorized by this device. The device can show the layout of the seat, indicating the booked or empty seat status by controlling an LED array. Total seats and number of empty seats are shown in an LCD. The device is connected to a server through the internet and transmits data to the server. Therefore transport authority can monitor the number of empty seat on the bus and can store this data for further analysis. This system can help the transport division of educational institutions to manage transport facilities more cost-effectively and smartly, avoiding many difficulties.
