EEG - Based Load Control System for Physically Challenged People

It is difficult to keep up with ongoing technological advancements for those people who are immobile and suffering from the problems of paralysis. Brain-computer interfacing technologies show a promising solution to this problem. This project represents a brain-controlled EEG system for home automation that is designed to help physically disable and paralysis people. This system picks up the EEG brain signals via the Neurosky mind wave sensor and transmits this raw data to the raspberry pi microcontroller through Bluetooth communication. The raspberry pi takes suitable decisions according to the program and sends a control signal to the relay modules, which controls the power flow in certain types of loads. The microcontrollers are calibrated and programmed to respond for a certain level of attention associated with our brain as the EEG signals propagate through it. After the final implementation of the project, it can be observed that the attention level can be detected with 90% accuracy, with a blink rate accuracy between 60-70% which outweighs the performance of other conventional devices used in a similar purpose. Moreover, we were able to control the switching between 3 TV channels effectively with insignificant error and higher sensitivity.
