A Wideband Self-Decoupled Dual-Antenna Pair for 5G MIMO Smartphone

This paper proposed a wideband self-decoupled dual-antenna pair for fifth-generation (5G) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) smartphone. The dual-antenna pair is composed of an ultra-wideband antenna element and another antenna element obtained by rotating former one by 180º.Two antenna elements are compactly printed on either side of the metal ground and a compact-field is appearing. The relative position of two antennas is chosen appropriately and good isolation can be obtained. The proposed dual-antenna pair is fabricated and measured. The isolation between two antenna elements is better than 11dB over 3.3-6.0 GHz, of which there are two decoupling frequencies. The measured efficiency is 38%-66% over the operating band.
