Temperature Drift Compensation Technique for Microstrip Patch Antenna

A temperature compensation technique for the resonant frequency of microstrip patch antenna is proposed. The drift compensation is achieved with the use of an appropriate ratio between the coefficient of thermal expansion and the thermal coefficient of permittivity. The equivalent circuit of a coax fed patch antenna is extracted by using a cavity model. The parasitic effect of the higher order modes, caused by the coax-to-microstrip transition, is accounted for analytically. The temperature drift derived by the circuit model is validated by a full wave analysis.
