All-Passive Composite Right/Left-Handed (CRLH) Antenna Array for Sum and Difference Patterns

Monopulse tracker is well-known for using the sum and difference radiation patterns for track, typically done electronically. The objective of this work is to create a dual band all-passive antenna array with composite right hand feed transmission lines to obtain the sum and difference patterns. A dual-band Wilkinson power divider has been designed for inphase output at 2.6 GHz and a phase difference of 180° at 1.8 GHz achieved by using a CRLH transmission line in one of the output arms. This is incorporated in a microstrip feed system to obtain the sum and difference patterns. Design optimization has been done using ANSYS HFSS. The antenna array has been fabricated and the sum pattern has been validated. Work is in progress to validate the difference pattern.
