Results in Goal-Oriented Error Estimation for MoM Input Impedance Computation

Error estimation is widely used in electromagnetic (EM) analysis and forms a crucial step in adaptive refinement algorithms. Goal-oriented a posteriori error estimators produce error estimates for quantities of interest relating to the original numerical solution by solving additional, dual problems. In this paper a goal-oriented error estimator is formulated for computing antenna input impedance in the electric field integral equation (EFIE) based method of moments (MoM) context. The estimator is used to drive an h-refinement of the mesh and is shown to produce a similar decrease in error as uniform refinement but with far fewer degrees of freedom.
