Switched LPV Modeling and H2 Control for Hybrid Suspension with Mass Variation

This paper focuses on the issue of modeling and multi-objective controller design for road adaptive hybrid suspension by means of a switched linear parameter-varying (LPV) framework. For a vehicle equipped with hybrid suspension which consists of a multi-stage adjustable damper and an actuator, the damping coefficients need to be adjusted according to the road conditions and the mass of vehicle may change with the load. The hybrid suspension is modeled as a switched LPV system, which takes into account the mass variation. A mode-dependent persistent dwell-time switching logic is introduced to govern the slow and fast switching, which probably coexists among the damping coefficient variations under complex road conditions. Finally, a novel switched LPV state-feedback controller is designed, which guarantees the stability and H2 norm performance of the underlying system. The numerical simulation is given to verify the superiorities of the proposed hybrid controller under the whole range of road conditions.
