A Method for Normal Mapping of Lightweight Mesh Model

Aiming at the problem of time consuming of online transmission and rendering of 3D models, a method is proposed to reduce the model transmission time without reducing the quality of rendering. First, we present a mesh model lightweight method base on the butterfly pattern. The geometric error of the simplified low model is reduced compared to the traditional simplification algorithm. Then, an improved normal map algorithm based on 3Dc is presented. First, the minimum and maximum values of the normal map are counted and interpolated. Then, each block in the map is matched, and the minimum and maximum numbers are recorded. The method is used to interpolate the set of points in the fitting block. Experiments show that the proposed algorithm can guarantee the three-dimensional model has a high sense of realism, but also can greatly shorten the 3D model transmission and rendering time.
