Integrated production and maintenance strategies for a Markov-based multi-state single machine

This paper addresses a multi-state single machine scheduling problem of integrated deteriorating jobs and flexible maintenances. For improving the transitions between machine's deterioration states, two types of maintenance actions are considered in a continuous-time Markov chain: a preventive maintenance (PM) that can be performed after any deteriorating operational state and a corrective maintenance (CM) that will be adopted immediately after a failed state. Two integrated scheduling strategies are proposed, including a reliability-based dynamic PM (RDPM) strategy and an availability-based flexible PM (AFPM) strategy. Numerical studies validate the effectiveness of the proposed integrated scheduling strategies.
