Impacts of Photovoltaic Insertion On Distribution Losses in a Amazonian Distribution System

The objective of this work is to evaluate the impacts of distributed generation on the behavior of a medium voltage distribution network located in a hot and humid region of the Amazon. Specifically, the electrical network of the Federal University of Acre will be evaluated, using the open source software OpenDSS, before and after the insertion of a power of 180kWp in one of its line sections, analyzing the changes in network losses and flow of power. In the simulations carried out, a reduction of 8.9% was observed in the power flow of the local feeder and inversion of flow in the connection section of the photovoltaic plant, in addition to a reduction in losses in the order of 8.7% in the lines close to the photovoltaic generation (PV). With the data obtained, it's clear that distributed generation, notably PV generation, can contribute to reducing losses in the electrical system and improving associated services.
