Optimization of Shaped Log-Periodic Antennas

Wire antennas have been widely used in the past in TV communication systems, and more recently have experienced a recrudescence in their popularity and R& D interest with the digitalization of television signals. Dipoles, Yagis and Log-Periodics are common examples of wire antennas and possess ideal lengths and geometries accordingly to the desired TV channels. In this work, a new shape for a Log-Periodic antenna is numerically obtained through angular optimization with the aid of computer codes. The new geometry yields a better response in a desired frequency bandwidth, when compared to the classical straight or V-shaped geometries.
