Changing from Magnetic to True Tracks in Aviation

The use of the magnetic compass and magnetic North as the main reference in aircraft navigation in this era leads to avoidable costs and possible safety issues. A proposal is presented to change to GNSS based true tracks and headings, including a way forward for an internationally aligned transition strategy. Latest results of research in this field and of coordinating actions with international bodies are presented.
