Soft Switching Hybrid Resonant Boost Converter for Energy Harvesting Application

This paper deals with, design and development of a Hybrid Boost converter with soft switching approach for energy harvesting applications. A Hybrid Full Bridge Resonant Boost DC-DC convertor with ZVZC switching approach having nominal losses and high efficiency and is achieved by introducing soft switching techniques into the conventional converters. The combination of Full Bridge Phase shifted Pulse Width Modulated converter and Half Bridge Resonant converter is used in proposed converter, i.e. the semiconductor switches operating at primary input end ensures Zero Current Switching characteristics with minimal conduction losses and the switches operating at secondary input end possess Zero Voltage Switching characteristics thereby it reduces the switching losses and voltage spike across the load. This serves as a proof of concept for soft switching converters.
