Efficient Implementation of Radix-2 FFT Architecture using CORDIC for Signal Processing Applications

The need for the effective analysis and implementation of complex arithmetic operations is disclosed through the most efficient algorithm called Digital Signal Processing(DSP). Algorithms used for micro-processor based systems cannot be mapped into hardware. These algorithms include shifts and adds in its operation which belong to a class of solutions for trigonometric functions which can be solved using vector rotations. The calculation of coordinate rotation trigonometric functions of complex valued phases are used in modern DSP algorithms. The Coordinate Rotation Digital Computer(CORDIC) algorithm plays an important role in calculating all the functions in a simpler and effective way. This CORDIC algorithm is further used in radix-2 FFT for faster computation. Here the twiddle factor computation is done using CORDIC. The whole structure gives the efficient implementation of radix-2 CORDIC FFT by reducing the area and increasing the operating frequency.
