Floating Solar Photovoltaic System: An Overview and their Feasibility at Kaptai in Rangamati

Nowadays solar power is a remarkable sector of renewable energy. It is used for various things such as commercial application, solar heaters, solar pumps, etc. Solar power minimizes the scarcity of the integrated grid power. In the future, the power demand of our country will be increasing day by day. However, it decreases the reliability of conventional fuel. To implement solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant, it needed vast amount of land which is very difficult to an overcrowded province like Bangladesh. On the contrary, Bangladesh has a huge coastal area, lake, pond, reservoir on water to implement the solar project instead of land. 57 Major rivers and huge coastal area will be effective for implementing floating solar PV power plant. Floating PV is not only innovative access but also conventional approach of using PV modules in water framework to preserve the land as well as module increases the efficiency. Also, Floating PV infrastructure contributes to reducing the water evaporation from the water body. Kaptai, Rangamati is the best places to construct a floating solar PV power plant. FPV power project in kaptai is adept by estimating quantity like panel position, efficiency of solar panel, available surface area, economic and environmental benefits which shows the comprehensive model of total electricity production in kaptai floating PV power plant. The electrical production of using this method is developed by studying simulated data, theoretical background, calculation, per unit cost and its benefits in different aspects.
