Robust Cylindrical Antenna Array using Optimal Diagonal Loading Technique in the Presence of Steering Angle Mismatch

This paper introduces a cylindrical antenna array (CAA). The performance of this CAA is investigated and contrasted with traditional concentric circular antenna array (CCAA). Optimal CAA is compared with delay-and-sum (DAS) CAA and found that optimal CAA has higher interference cancellation ability in the presence of interference. The performance of optimal CAA is deteriorated if intended signal turns away from beam steering direction. The performance deterioration issue because of steering angle disparity (SAD), can be diminished by using fixed and variable diagonal loading robust techniques. From numerical results of MATLAB, it is ascertained that the half-power beamwidth (HPBW) of suggested CAA is 36.35% narrower than traditional CCAA. Due to narrow beamwidth, the directivity of proposed CAA is superior and also side lobe level (SLL) is lower than existing CCAA. ODL based CAA delivers more robustness in case of SAD compared with existing FDL based CAA.
