A Remote Immobilization System with GSM and GPS Technologies for Cargo Trailers

This article presents the design, development and implementation of a remote immobilization system for cargo trailers, using Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and a Global Mobile Communications System (GSM) to prevent and track their theft. The immobilization system works minutes after the possible infraction has been committed, this in order to protect the integrity of the driver. The design of the power supply card is shown both for the activation of a solenoid valve, and for feeding the telemetry from a trailer battery. It also shows the design of the communication and control card whose components are embedded in the same printed circuit board. Experimental tests are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed system.
