Brain-Machine Interface Model to Construct A Prosthetic Arm

Brain-machine interface (BMI) is a system that picks up signals from brain and are studied, analysed and converted into commands that are transferred to control external devices. Electromyography (EMG) is a technique for diagnosis and recording the electrical pulses produced at muscles. Using EMG technique one can analyse and understand the functioning of the nervous system, which supervises every action of the human body. In present days EMG has various bio-medical applications, one of it is to identify neuro-muscular and motor control disorders such as myopathy, neuropathy. This work focuses on abstraction and analysis of healthy, myopathy and neuropathy signals to develop a prosthetic arm to overcome neurological disabilities. These signals are drawn from the anterior portion of leg muscle and subjected to MATLAB. The strength of the signals is compared using various techniques.
