Preventive Readmission In Hospitals Using Machine Learning

This paper discusses the application of Machine Learning techniques to the prevention of readmissions in hospitals. Readmission in hospitals is generally defined as admitting a patient again within, generally, 30 days of initial admission. Readmission in hospitals in a specific time interval has to be avoided both for healthcare reasons and quality standards, and this index is being used as an important measure of examining quality of care. Several statistical figures and analyses have also been explored in literature. This paper also presents why the use of the exponentially rising field of Machine Learning is better to be applied in place of the existing models for acknowledging this problem, including assessments and analyses. This paper concludes the importance of using Machine Learning model and the risks involved in using hypothesis driven models.
