Virtual Synchronous Machine Based PV-STATCOM Controller

This article presents the concept of Virtual Synchronous Machine (VSM) used as a controller for PV-STATCOM in which the solar photovoltaic inverter is often used as a dynamic reactive power compensator-STATCOM. The proposed controller evinces how the VSM based controller is better in voltage regulation and synchronization than the conventional controller for PV-STATCOM based system. Simulation results of both conventional and VSM based controller are shown to support the idea.
