Solar tracking for optimum energy generation using Extremum Seeking Control

Access to electricity is a necessity in the modern world. To cater for increasing demand, solar power is now readily available and is harnessed in an efficient way to power the world. In this work, we present a relatively new approach called Extremum Seeking Control (ESC) used to track the sun for optimal solar power generation. Extremum seeking control is known for its robustness for non-linear systems and it is immune to disturbances that can occur in the system. We present simulation results of the closed-loop system and compare them with experimental results obtained from the prototype constructed for this project.
