A Comparative Analysis of Electrostatic OLS and WSS

Electrostatic monitoring technology is a new state monitoring method used in the Prognostics and Health Management (PHM) of mechanical system. This technology can be used to monitor the tribo-contacts and wear of mechanical equipment by using two kinds of electrostatic sensors with different shapes and structures, i.e. oil-line sensor (OLS) and wear-site sensor (WSS). Due to the different induced charges generated in Electrostatic Sensors, in order to express the spatial distribution of induction region of electrostatic sensors more clearly, it is necessary to research and analysis the spatial sensitivity of the two kinds of electrostatic sensors. This paper first introduced their mathematical models and parameters, then conduct a comparative analysis with their characteristics of spatial sensitivity.
