Threshold Selection PTS Method for PAPR Reduction in OFDM Systems

In this paper, a threshold selection partial transmit sequence (TS-PTS) method is proposed to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In proposed TS-PTS method, two orthogonal phase factor sets are firstly introduced to produce two groups of sub-candidate signals. Then, by using the linear combinations of sub-candidate signals from different groups, the OFDM candidate signals are achieved, which avoids a lot of complex multiplications. To further reduce computational complexity, a threshold selection function Tsf(β,N) is employed based on complementary cumulative distribution function (CCDF). Simulation results show that compared with original PTS (OPTS) and the existing PTS method, the proposed TS-PTS method can gain the same PAPR performance with more computational complexity savings.
