Opto-electronic sensor new concept for analogue measurements in electrical substations

Non-conventional instrument transformers are providing improved security and performance of substation and protection designs. This article demonstrates the benefits achieved from the choice of a combined optical measurement system and the IEC60044-8 protocol for interface to the protection equipment.
