Study on the Electrodynamic Behavior of Wire-type Metal Particles in DC GIL

Aiming at the free wire-type conducting particles which threaten the insulation performance of equipment most in GIL, the charging mechanism of wire-type metal conducting particles under DC voltage is studied, and the mechanism of electrodynamic behavior caused by the synergistic coupling between particles and space charge is explored. The experimental equipment and observation platform of free particles are set up to study the lifting and motion characteristics of wire-type particles. The experiments show that, the lifting voltage of wire-type particles has nothing to do with length and voltage polarity, but its movement and breakdown show a clear law with the change of length and voltage polarity. Considering the generation, recombination, migration and diffusion of space ions on the gas side, based on the charge transport equation, particle collision dynamics and fluid field analysis in GIL chamber, the particle electrodynamics model under DC is established, the motion characteristics of the particle such as one end lifting, “standing” and rotating are studied, the simulation results are analyzed, and the cause of particle motion phenomenon is explained from the microscopic perspective.
