Reducing the Toxicity of Diesel Engines Due to Two-Phase Fuel Injection

Protecting the environment from diesel emissions requires immediate operational forecasting and solutions encompassing a mixture of organizational and technical measures and other effective actions. The article deals with the issue of reducing the toxicity of diesel engines, which can be achieved with the conversion to gaseous fuel. Of scientific interest is also what amount of gaseous fuel additive would be effective in two-phase fuel supply without worsening the technical characteristics. This issue is especially relevant for agricultural transport equipment, as closer to the time of harvest in autumn, diesel prices increase. The experimental stand allows the D-144 engine to change the additive of gaseous fuel from 0 to 30 % of the total fuel consumption. Fuel consumption and the associated excess air ratio have the best values near q = 20% (the decrease in air consumption when additional fuel is supplied to the inlet is between 0+5 %). Analysis of literature conducted shows that two-phase fuel supplies improve the environmental characteristics of diesel and the greatest effect is achieved when the gaseous fuel is around 20%. This reduces NOx emissions and smokiness.
