GNSS for Accuracy Positioning in Mobile Communications with Multipath Propagation of the Signal

The paper deals with the influence of multipath propagation of transmitted signal, causing additional peaks in the correlation function of the received signals. Also, the multipath adds distortion in the receiving signal and hence an error in determining the exact position of the user equipment. The presence of multipath propagation reduces the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the received signal, leading to an increase in the synchronization error. The characteristics of navigation signals and multipath propagation errors are analyzed. A theoretical study of multipath error envelope are conducted.
