Optimization of the Design of a Chamber for Pre-Sowing Treatment of Seeds

The preliminary study of the electric field between the plane-to-pane electrodes in a laboratory chamber for pre-sowing electromagnetic treatment of seeds, rich in fat, revealed shortcomings of the design of the chamber. After a model of the electric field of the plane-to-plane electrode system was created in the Finite Element Method Magnetics (FEMM) software environment, design optimization of the working chamber was performed. It was found that the adopted design of the working chamber walls caused non-uniformity of the electric field strength in the area of the treated seeds. This resulted in an uneven effect on the treated seeds located in each chamber zone. After an optimization was performed, a new design of the working chamber was proposed. In this way, a change in the nature of the electric field in the inter-electrode gap was achieved. The impact of the electric field end effects was limited and the non-uniformity of the electric field strength in the seed treatment zone was decreased.
