Energy and cost -efficient air flow measurement solution for small scale processes

The implementation of an affordable but reliable method for air flow measurement is described in this paper. For the best result, determining the properties of the airflow in the main air pipe where done by using the most cost-efficient methods. Implementing the modelling with software coupled with mathematical modeling of the process to verify the superlative flow properties will reduce the price of the final setup. The following methods used through the research project: fundamental study of air-flow quantities and air-flow principles with cost-effective MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems) - sensors. Designing the flow measurement extension in “Autodesk Invertor” and installing it into the existing system. Simulating the projected air flow in CFD “Computational Fluid Dynamics” simulation software. “Autodesk-CFD” testing of the simulated results. Sample modeling and producing a mathematical prototypical based model on the test results using the “non-linear regression analysis method” to determine the connection in sensor's output and actual flow in the main duct. Confirming the connection between the simulation outcomes, trial results, and scientific model. The simulation through the CFD PC application is a modern and cost-cost-effective technique of designing an optimum model for the flow property research. The usage of the Computational Fluid Dynamics knowingly cuts the prototyping phase of research and conserves resources. Mathematical modeling, that is built on both simulating figures and experimental results, gives precise knowledge of the flow development, and can be used in the future expansion of the flow control software. The use of MEMS - sensors, when those are properly adjusted, is a reliable and energy efficient technique for measuring airflow in small scale processes.
